Aries enjoys its notoriety for creating excitement. The first sign of the zodiac, it endeavors to make an impression. This year’s solar journey though the cardinal fire sign, with its unforgettable eclipses, met and exceeded expectations. To bring calm and grounding to the atmosphere, astrology followers tend to look to the second sign, Taurus. After all, it is associated with simple and sensual pleasures and it is the fixed sign of the spring season. The 2024 Taurus Sun cycle will see Venus and Mars settle down into their respective home signs and Mercury emerge from its retrograde, move beyond the Rx shadow and into Taurus. But before the intensity of the Aries cycle cools down, the Taurus Sun cycle will start with some fireworks of its own.
The Sun will enter the bull’s domain on the 19th, immediately followed by sextiles to Jupiter and Uranus from provocative Mars. That stimulation is a fitting prequel to next day’s Jupiter Uranus conjunction. Coming on the heels of April 8th’s eclipse, this is another one of the year’s most anticipated celestial events. This time the amplifying, expansive energies of Jupiter will join forces with the shock and awe of electrifying Uranus at 21º Taurus 50′. Generally regarded as favorable, the alignment supports invention, sudden breakthroughs and innovation. A Sun Pluto square on the 21st will add more blockbusting power to the mix, and the full Scorpio Moon of the 23rd, at 4º Scorpio 18′, will bring its destructive purification to the equation. The confluence of so much fixed energy arriving in angles designed to force decisions portends a make or break point being reached by the full Moon. Mercury will station direct on the 25th, and begin retracing territory it has traversed since March 18th, when it originally crossed into the retrograde shadow zone. Leafing back through personal planners to spring equinox might give some insight into issues now ripe for resolution. On the 29th Venus will enter Taurus, imbuing the remainder of the Sun cycle with her grace and the ease of being home. Finally on the 30th, Mars will close out a truly momentous month and return to his invigorating Aries abode.
With those key personal planets in their natural domiciles, Mercury again making forward progress and Jupiter separating from Uranus, the shift from April to May will be pronounced and the Sun cycle will finally take on the peaceful and placid qualities associated with Taurus. The Venusian vibes will pick up under the new Moon of the 7th, at 18º Taurus 02′, and Mercury’s entrance into the fixed earth sign on the 15th will attune minds to the sensuous side of life. On May 20th the Sun will leave earthy Taurus for mental Gemini, followed by Jupiter on the 25th, after a year-long-stay. Uranus will make the same sign change in July of next year after a seven-year-transit. Whether one is assessing events and aspirations in the context of 2024 or glimpsing into the next eight years, the Taurus Sun will sextile psychic Neptune on the 19th, offering a final moment for relaxed, grounded musing.
