Sun Into Taurus 2026: No Backsies

April 19, 2026 by Elizabeth Pendleton

The Sun’s 2026 visit to placid Taurus will be much louder than usual. At the outset, Mars and Saturn will conjoin ahead of the Sun’s April 19th entrance, and on the 20th, the two malefics will connect with shrewd Mercury, who leans towards his more sinister side when hanging out with astrology’s bad boys. The three will be mixing things up in combustible, unfiltered and impulsive Aries. Oh boy! On the 24th Venus will venture into outgoing Gemini, one day ahead of one of the year’s signature events, Uranus’s ingress into the sign of the twins. Finding some of that reliable stability, for which earthy Taurus is renowned, may prove challenging in the unfolding cycle, but it’s possible. The Sun moves through the sign of the bull in the heart of spring, a setting befitting ruler Venus’s appreciation of abundance and beauty. This is a moment to pause, ground and reconnect with simple and sensual pleasures. Mercury will move through the fixed earth sign, from May 2nd through 17th, and Mars will step into Taurus on the 18th. From Taurus, the Sun, Mercury and Mars will make relaxing and supportive connections to Jupiter in nurturing Cancer, and a new Taurus Moon on the 16th will offer another occasion to tap into the sign’s enduring ease. Meanwhile, some of astrology’s other characters can’t wait to get into exciting, kinetic Gemini. Chief among them is wild, unorthodox Uranus.

Last year the innovating planet visited the mutable air sign from July through November. The stay that starts now will be uninterrupted until August 2032, with an encore run set for December 2032 to May 2033. Curious, versatile Gemini will make an agreeable home for the planet that bucks trends, overthrows convention and thrives on invention. Predictions of disruption in critical resources, governed by Taurus, made for its 2018 to 2026 transit, were on point. Now the focus shifts to momentous technological changes. AI’s ubiquity at the start of this transit is one example, and perhaps a hint of where things are heading. Powerhouse Pluto is also in an air sign, putting strong winds behind Uranian sails. Finally, the conversation about Uranus in Gemini would not be complete without noting its relationship to the United States.

Nations, like people, have birth charts, and when the Declaration of Independence was signed at 5:10 PM in Philadelphia on July 4, 1776, Uranus sat at 8 degrees and 55 minutes of Gemini. America also has a Gemini-based Mars, but that’s a story for my upcoming Sun into Cancer edition. Because Uranus takes 84 years to complete each trip through the entire zodiac, this will be its fourth Gemini visit since the country’s founding. The three previous Uranus transits of the sign took place from August 1941 to June 1949, June 1858 to March 1866, and June 1774 to April 1782, time periods that correspond to WWII and the start of the Cold War, the Civil War (1861 to 1865), and the War of Independence. Coincidentally, Neptune’s last Aries stay was from 1861-1875 and Pluto’s previous Aquarius visit was from 1777 to 1798. Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are considered to be global influencers. Neptune explored Aries from March to October 2025, before settling in for its long haul this past January, and Pluto began its Aquarius transit in March 2023. Together, the big three signal that transformation of enormous magnitude is in the air. Paradoxically, and helpfully, Uranus’s shift happens as the Sun arrives into the sign of security. We’ve got this.
