Analytical, orderly and organized, Virgo’s intellectual prowess is renowned. That ability to compute, comprehend and synthesize multiple data points is going to come in handy as the Sun moves through the Mercury-ruled sign in 2025. This cycle will see Saturn retrograde back into Pisces, Uranus begin its retrograde in Gemini, two eclipses, new iterations of the patterns involving closely aligned planets Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, a Neptune Uranus sextile, a Sun Mercury conjunction and additional sign changes by Mercury, Venus and Mars. It all starts on August 22nd and under a new Virgo Moon.
With Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto all traveling in the 0 to 2 degree range, the Virgo Sun will quincunx Saturn on the 23rd and Neptune and Pluto on the 24th, with a square to Uranus in between. The less familiar quincunx occurs when planets are 150° apart, which places them out of sync in terms of modality, cardinal, fixed or mutable, and element, air, fire, water or earth. This lack of a shared perspective or vantage point can make finding common ground more difficult than usual. An outstanding example of this phenomenon will take place on September 2nd. Mercury, from the final degree of the fixed fire of Leo, will quincunx Saturn, newly settled back into the mutable water of Pisces on September 1st, move into the mutable earth of Virgo and immediately quincunx Neptune, still in the cardinal fire of Aries, and go on to form another quincunx to Pluto in the fixed air of Aquarius on the 3rd. The final set of quincunx alignments of this Virgo Sun cycle will take place on the 19th and 20th, when Venus enters Virgo and forms quincunxes to Neptune and Pluto, while Mars, in the late degrees of the cardinal air sign of Libra, forms one to Saturn. The Virgo entrances of the Sun, Mercury and Venus will all also include squares to exciting, unorthodox Uranus in Gemini. Translation; a lot of planets will be speaking in a variety of languages, and they may be saying some surprising things. Mercury and the other planets visiting its domicile are capable translators. For those wanting to avert any communication failures, putting some extra effort into listening carefully and explaining clearly will go a long way.
Another important feature of this Sun cycle is the Moon’s activity. The Sun cycle starts under the new Moon at 0° Virgo 23′ on August 22nd. A Lunar eclipse, full Moon, at 15° Pisces 23′ will take place on September 7th, and it will be followed by a solar eclipse, and 2nd new Moon, at 29° Virgo 05′ on the 21st, one day before the Sun will move into Libra. This evolution from 0, to 15 and finally 29 degrees in a series that includes two eclipses is worth contemplating. A mutable sign square between Mars and Jupiter on September 4th may crack open some insights. Another facet is Uranus’s retrograde beginning on the 6th, the day before the first eclipse. Finally, at 28°27′, Saturn will be close to exact opposition to the Moon on the second eclipse, and also retrograde.
Saturn’s retrograde began on July 12th, will last until November 27th, and will see the Taskmaster journey from 1° Aries 56′ back to 25° Pisces 09′. Saturn’s final pass through the intuitive, holistic realm of Pisces will conclude on February 13, 2026. The retrograde phase that begins on September 1st will see the planet of limitations, structure and karma transit back to the (Pisces) degrees it visited from early April to July 12th. Issues that came to the fore, only to be dismissed back then, are likely to resurface, as the stoic, stern and sometimes severe planet completes this leg of its 29-year-cycle. September 21st’s eclipse will likely have something to say on the subject. Like Saturn, Uranus is also due to bring finality to a major transit. Its retrograde will begin early on the 6th, at 1° Gemini 28′, and conclude on February 3, 2026, at 27° Taurus 28′. This last visit to the fixed earth sign is part of an 84-year-cycle. On April 25, 2026, the disruptive powerhouse will re-enter Gemini, where it will remain until August 3, 2032. Between now and next April, the Change-maker will review the territory it has been traversing since mid May of this year, along with issues and themes that arose during that time frame. Finding thoughtful resolutions is well within the capacity of practical and dedicated Virgo. On September 12th, the Sun and Mercury will sextile benevolent Jupiter in nurturing Cancer, prior to their conjunction on the 13th. These aspects place the brightest of ideas into the most devoted and discerning of care.
