Forecast May 10-16, 2021: Watch The Water

The week’s “big” news is Jupiter’s ingress into Pisces on Thursday. Leading up to the kingly planet’s arrival, several planets, like a group of faithful courtiers, will gather harmoniously for a royal welcome. Highlights include a new Moon in Taurus, supported by a Mars Uranus sextile, a Mercury Saturn trine and a Sun Neptune sextile. Each year’s new Taurus Moon offers an opportunity to affirm abundance. On one level, the fixed earth sign is the domain of raw materials, resources and financial markets. On another level, the sign represents what we value, materially or otherwise. At a hefty 21 Taurus 18, this Moon embodies the sign’s strength and substance. Mars has a reputation for agitation and Uranus for disruption. Yet even these rascals will find themselves making a cooperative sextile under Tuesday’s new Moon. Mars is in Cancer and Uranus in Taurus, and this water earth combo will also resonate with the melodious tone set by the morning’s Moon Neptune sextile. On Wednesday collaboration will continue when Mercury, at home in Gemini, trines Saturn in Aquarius. This air-sign alliance gives form and stamina to bright ideas conceived under the new Moon. Next, the Sun’s sextile to Neptune overnight brings the emphasis back to earth and water and sets the stage for Jupiter’s grand entrance.

Titanic and voluminous, this transit will occur in three phases, with the first stage running from May 13th – July 28, 2021. Ancient astrologers considered Jupiter to be the ruler of Pisces. But once Neptune was discovered in 1846, it was assigned rulership of the mutable water sign. Jupiter and Neptune share an expansive quality, and in Pisces, their boundlessness is extended infinitely. Pisces is said to collect and integrate pieces of all twelve signs, a characteristic that gives the sign its remarkable empathy. Though Jupiter will only make its way to 2 degrees of the sign, before turning retrograde on June 20th, its splash will give us a sense of the nature of its merger with Neptune. Above the surface, a set of mutable sign eclipses are on the way, as are the retrogrades of Saturn and Mercury (in air signs) and significantly, the next Saturn Uranus square on June 14th. The first eclipse, at 5 Sagittarius 26, on May 26th will bear down on its ruler Jupiter, while the second, at 19 Gemini 47, on June 10th, will put the pressure on Neptune. On June 11th Mars will press into fiery Leo, where it will be until July 29th. This puts it on an unavoidable collision course with Jupiter, at an incendiary 29 degrees, one day after Jupiter emerges from Pisces. Moist hot air over the ocean breeds hurricanes. Whether 2021’s manifest literally or figuratively, the power of water, element of emotions, is about to assert itself. Fittingly, Pisces will be presiding over the incoming tides. Detached, flexible and forgiving, it invites us to align with its spiritual perspective. Mythic, imaginative and endlessly creative, it also invites us to embrace its artistry.
