Forecast Apr 19-25, 2021: Spring Cleaning Or Clock Cleaning

This week personal planets the Sun, Mercury and Mars will move from extroverted yang to introspective yin signs. Their shifts will usher in a detectable change that will be felt through the first week of May. The Sun and Mercury will leave the ferocity of Aries and enter Taurus on Monday, and Mars will abandon the stimulation of Gemini and head into Cancer on Friday. Taurus is astrology’s fixed earth sign, and as such is revered for its endurance, tranquility and ability to bestow a sense of stability. However, with rebellious Uranus well into the sign’s second decant, 2021’s Taurus Sun cycle may be a little short on the Bull’s renowned placidity. This first week will give us a taste of the incoming month. Venus will conjoin Uranus on Thursday, followed by Mercury on late Friday. Then Venus will square Saturn late Saturday followed by Mercury on Sunday. Like two titanic tectonic plates, Saturn and Uranus are currently in a contentious square. Mercury and Venus will expose any fault lines that are creeping up to the surface. Then they’ll meet on Sunday afternoon, to compare notes, via a friendly conjunction. As the sign associated with roots and sustenance, Taurus shares its nourishing qualities with Cancer, the sign of home and motherhood that rules the stomach.

Mars will visit the cardinal water sign from April 23rd through June 11th. Hanging around the house is not the ideal spot for astrology’s planet of conquest, nor for anyone who’s sick of lockdowns and travel restrictions. But, with some forethought, we can positively apply the passionate planet’s ever ready energy supply to domestic life. This can take the form of anything from initiating home improvement projects, to planting spring gardens, to cooking the favorite dishes of loved ones, to house hunting. The caveat is that planet of war in Cancer is equally capable of agitating existing frustrations and stirring up family feuds. Unlike its cardinal cousin, direct Aries, moody Cancer is notorious for cloaking its aggression. The sign is also ruled by the Moon. Having a short list of mood altering options handy can make the critical difference between spring cleaning and clock cleaning. In the macro, Cancer is of course the Sun sign of the United States, so Mars may ratchet up domestic disputes. Whether it’s the border crisis, proposals to extend or end mortgage forbearance or food supply line disruptions, this tug of war between the resources of Taurus and Cancer caregiving will likely come to a head by May 11th. That’s when a new Taurus Moon will be accompanied by a Mars Uranus sextile. Taurus needs financial security and Cancer craves emotional safety. Under this cooperative alignment, their shared interests may produce constructive solutions. Then again, rambunctious Mars and unpredictable Uranus may prefer some chaos. Before then, we have a couple of weeks to unplug, relax and focus on self-care and simple pleasures.
