Forecast Aug 12-18, 2019: Futuristic Full Moon

The week starts under a Capricorn moon, bringing a serious note to the lively, outgoing Leo rays that have begun flowing so freely. It’s not so much that these energies disagree with one another as it is that they are distinctly different and share little in common. With conjunctions to sober Saturn and reforming Pluto, this moon may illuminate matters needing careful consideration. When problem solving, Tuesday’s Sun Venus conjunction can show us what matters most. Next up, the moon moves into Aquarius where it will be full on Thursday, the day that also sees Mercury finally move past the shadow point of this summer’s emotionally intensive retrograde. Right on the heels of the full fixed-sign moon, Uranus in fixed Taurus is set to square Mercury in fixed Leo on Friday. These aspects will likely expose hard lines and hard-liners. But under a moon in the compassionate realms of gentle Pisces, our decisions, words and deeds can be infused with the intention of healing the situations we encounter. By the weekend, provocative Mars leaves fiery Leo for studious Virgo where it will be in residence through October 4th. Best look: hands, hearts and minds holding fast to sacred texts and the wisdom of their teachings.

Forecast July 29-Aug 4, 2019: Sun Showers Passing

The astrological sun showers of the past two months continue giving way to sunny Leo skies this week. With the Sun, Venus and Mars now shining brightly in cheerful Leo and receiving optimistic boosts from benevolent Jupiter, the skies continue their shift out of moody Cancer and into confident Leo. Informative Mercury initially entered Cancer all the way back on June 4th. Though it will remain in the cardinal water sign until August 11th, on Wednesday, its long, laborious retrograde concludes. Giving us even more reason to celebrate, earlier in the day the new moon dawns at 8 degrees and 37 minutes of Leo. Signifying the availability of new opportunities and pathways, the moon and Sun find themselves in the motivational presence of Mars, the planet capable of infusing aspirations with extra stamina. The week’s challenging aspects show up on Monday and Thursday when unruly Uranus squares the Sun and then Venus from determined Taurus. Examine the choices that these push comes to shove moments present, and choose with a view toward long term peace, harmony and happiness. Best look? Folded umbrella thrown in the back seat.

Poop, Meet Fan: First Jupiter Neptune Square Of Three

On January 13th Jupiter and Neptune are set to square one another. This is their first square in a series of three this year. In astrology, squares are considered to be the most contentious alignments. Even in oppositions, the involved planets are on the same axis, each representing an extreme. Forming a 90 degree angle, the planets of a square are on separate axes. These collisions tend to force issues to the surface. Although Sunday’s match will involve the normally flexible mutable signs of Sagittarius and Pisces, this clash is likely to unearth matters that we’ll be dealing with for most of 2019. So what exactly is involved?

Interestingly enough, both planets are in their home signs. This strengthens their respective characteristics. The friendly, optimistic fire sign of Sagittarius is home to Jupiter, while spiritual, holistic Pisces is Neptune’s domain. Both planets and signs are prone to excess and both lack grounding. The archer of Sagittarius aims for the distant horizon while the shifting oceans of Neptune can be unfathomably nebulous. Sagittarians are susceptible to wishful thinking and Pisceans addictions and escapism. The three squares of 2019 have many interpretations and will play out uniquely in each person’s chart and life. However, they certainly signal a time to examine our indulgences and the soundness of our plans.

Jupiter informs our beliefs and philosophies and Neptune our spiritual essence. The shadow side of Jupiter can manifest in fanaticism, in political or religious beliefs for example. Delusions are Neptune’s shadow. The challenging pairings ahead suggest that some soul searching is in order. Are we practicing what we preach? Are we being the change in the world that we wish to see? Are we doing unto others as we would have them do unto us? Etc.

One last consideration is the company these giants are keeping. It will change during this series. Right now the flames of Jupiter’s exuberance are burning brightly and being fanned by Venus, also in Sagittarius, and by Mars at home in headstrong Aries, along with the moon and game-changing Uranus. This is adding a lot of gusto to our energy levels. Neptune’s allies are in Cancer and Capricorn. The North Node is in Cancer where it is concerned with emotional security, nurturing and care-giving. The Sun, Mercury, Saturn, Pluto and the South Node have formed a huge stellium in Capricorn, where they are supporting a sober assessment and pragmatic action. Fire (Sagittarius and Aries) is an outgoing, masculine element with a positive polarity, and water (Pisces and Cancer) and earth (Capricorn) are inward and feminine with a negative polarity. Thus, the battle lines are drawn. Note what issues come to the fore during January, especially around the middle of the month. The next squares are set for June and September.

Astrology 2019: From Lead To Gold

The action-packed first week of 2019 is getting the year off to a lively and ambitious start. To set the stage, on New Year’s Eve Mars came home to initiating Aries. At the moment, the cosmic wildcard and powerhouse Uranus also finds itself in the cardinal fire sign. On January 4th Mercury joins the Sun, Moon, Saturn, Pluto and the South Node in sober, responsible Capricorn. On the 5th, we experience the year’s first eclipse, on the 6th Uranus goes direct and on the 7th Venus joins Jupiter in effervescent Sagittarius, after a prolonged stay in emotionally intense Scorpio. And they say God had a busy first week.

Mars and Uranus will be enlivening our spirits and stoking those irrepressible, instigating Aries fires for the first six weeks of 2019. From fellow fire sign Sagittarius, Venus and Jupiter will be encouraging and expanding those flames until early February. But it’s the group in serious Capricorn that we need to pay particular attention to. Not only will we be under their influence for this weekend’s new moon and eclipse, but also for the entire duration of 2019 and for the better part of 2020. Jupiter enters Capricorn on December 2, 2019.

Capricorn gives us structure. In the human body, it rules the skeleton, bones and teeth, in the home it is our parents, and in the cosmos it is represented by ringed Saturn. While affirmation spouting, positive thinking New Agers tend to reject notions of limitations and of being realistic, we would be wise to recognize Capricorn’s considerable presence and its unfolding influence. Capricorn is the sign of achievements and earned rewards. So the endeavors we undertake now will be well-served by honesty, austerity and dedication. The planets in fire signs are lending us their excitement and enthusiasm, and the Capricorn contingent are showing us the real work ahead. Our task is to appreciate and synthesize these somewhat contradictory forces as we forge our way into 2019.
