Forecast Sep 13-19, 2021: Personal Power

Detriment is the term astrologers use when a planet is in the opposite sign of its domicile. For example, Venus is presently in Scorpio, opposite of her home sign of Taurus. This Tuesday, Mars will enter Libra, the sign opposite of its home, Aries. When a planet is in its detriment, its power is at its weakest. Further, astrology’s personal planets are the ones whose transits we experience most directly. So as personal planets Venus and Mars move through the signs of their detriment, we may undergo a crisis of confidence. Ever at the mercy of invasive governments, tech oligarchs and big banks. to name but a few, a sense of powerlessness may increase during this period. Adding delays and their consequent consternation, personal planet Mercury will be retrograde in Libra, from September 27th to October 18th. Compounding matters more, on September 22nd, the Sun will enter vacillating Libra. Signified by the scales of justice, Libra deliberates to a fault. Being fair and considerate of all sides is ordinarily a virtue. But into the malaise of agitating Mars stuck spinning its wheels and retrograding Mercury in a quagmire, the Sun’s presence will push indecision, frustration and paralysis to acute levels. The hotspot is October 7th through 9th. On the 7th the Sun and Mars will join forces, and on the 9th Mercury will conjoin the Sun and Mars. Perhaps breaking the logjam, Venus will exit her detriment and enter eternally optimistic Sagittarius on the 7th. Further relief will come from the stations of Pluto on the 6th and Saturn on the 10th. After months of being retrograde, these two will slowly begin to make forward progress. On the 18th Jupiter and Mercury will also station and turn direct. Mars, however, won’t be leaving Libra until October 30th. Between now and then, stores of perspective and ingenuity are on the way, courtesy of some trines from Jupiter and Saturn.

While Saturn is never as much fun as Jupiter, there is much to be learned from his discipline, dedication and longevity. From the fixed air sign of Aquarius, Saturn will trine Mars on September 25th and the Sun on the 29th. The taskmaster is also the keeper of time, and its longterm view can clarify immediate priorities. Expanding that Aquarian overview, Jupiter will begin its series of trines next Monday, with the first of three trines to Mercury. On October 15th it will trine the Sun, and, under an Aquarius Moon on the 18th. it will trine Mars. The final Mercury Jupiter trine will take place on October 31st, just as Mars exits Libra. In short, as Venus and Mars traverse the signs of their detriment, Saturnian endurance and Jupiter’s hopefulness will avail themselves through will (the Sun), clarity of mind (Mercury) and willpower (Mars) from visionary Aquarius. For this trek, keeping an eye on the prize will not only be possible; it will be paramount.

Forecast Sep 6-12, 2021: Handling The Truth

The good vibrations flowing from Monday’s new Moon will beam throughout most of the workweek. Intensity returns early on Friday morning when the Moon will roll into possessive Scorpio, followed by Venus later that day. Plans to get while the getting is good are favored when organized, detailed Virgo is at the helm, and Monday’s aspects are opening a brief yet auspicious window. Setting the stage for that new Moon, on Monday morning, Mars will trine Pluto and Venus will trine Jupiter. Mars and Pluto are not typically thought of as sources of joy and good fortune. However, in an earth sign trine, the application of their combined power can lead to tremendous success, especially when they meet at 24 degrees. Complementing Mercury-ruled Virgo’s crystal clarity, Venus and Jupiter are in air signs. Officially, it’s these two who are in charge of happiness and good luck. Their meeting will offer a mental boost capable of carrying the confidence to execute plans over the top. The excitement and effervescence they stir up will spill into the Moon’s run through Libra from Tuesday evening to late night Thursday. But before that, the new Virgo Moon, at 14 Virgo 38, will unpack a few more gifts. When the Sun and Moon trine Uranus on Monday afternoon. the surprises coming from astrology’s wild card are likely to be of the pleasant variety. Finally, on Tuesday, the Virgo Moon will trine Pluto and conjoin Mars. Once in Libra, the Moon will trine Saturn and conjoin Mercury on Wednesday and trine Jupiter and conjoin Venus on Thursday. But nothing, even a winning streak, lasts forever. A distinct change in the air is set for early Friday morning when the Moon will move into intense Scorpio.

Being astrology’s sign of passion, death, and other people’s money isn’t an easy gig. When fixed sign tension is added to the cauldron, Scorpio doubles down. If this were only the typical two-day lunar transit, taking a deep breath would probably suffice. But, on Frida afternoon Venus will enter the secretive, nether worlds of fixed, emotional Scorpio, for a four-week-stay. As the Moon squares Saturn and Jupiter and opposes Uranus on Friday and Saturday, so will Venus during the coming weeks. Pluto rules Scorpio, making its domain the ideal spot for stashing all of life’s shadowy stuff. If Venus represents what we love, then Scorpio reveals our emotional responses to being denied it. Herein lies the gold. Acknowledged and carefully managed, envy, impulses to exact revenge and other Scorpio obsessions can be examined and healed. Repressed, they wreak havoc. Aggressive Mars is due for its Scorpio visit from October 30th – December 13th. Venus’s journey through this valley of the shadow is lighting a kinder, gentler path first. Like Mercury’s retrogrades, Scorpio has a way of getting to the truth. Mercury’s next retrograde, while Venus is in Scorpio, suggests that some serious revelations are inbound. Can we handle the truth?

Forecast Aug 30 – Sep 5, 2021: Heads Up

Mercury’s move into Libra on Monday, under a Gemini Moon, will temporarily bring the number of planets in air signs to five, and give us a quick glimpse into the character of the next two months. Air signs correlate to the mental plane, and similarly, Mercury represents the intellect. The Moon will shift the planetary balance back to four when it enters watery Cancer on Tuesday night. But the start of this week is offering a sample of coherence that may prove highly valuable during Mercury’s long transit. In the near term, Mercury will benefit from the co-presence of Venus in diplomatic Libra. At home in the cardinal air sign until September 10th, courteous Venus encourages consideration, reciprocity and cooperation. Throughout Mercury’s Libra visit, from August 30th through November 5th, Saturn and Jupiter will remain in the fellow air sign of Aquarius. Saturday’s Mercury Saturn trine will demonstrate what’s possible when the collaborative influence of Libra is combined with Aquarian vision and ingenuity. Judicious Libra weights the arguments and all of its options, and lofty Aquarius sees the big picture. This combo provides a golden opportunity to make decisions with respect to their impact on the wider scheme of things. We will likely want to access this tool, particularly once Mercury goes retrograde. The next one begins on September 27th and lasts through October 18th. Next week Mercury will cross into the retrograde’s shadow zone, and it will not exit until November 2nd. Technology, commerce and communication are under Mercury’s sphere. Given the current condition of global conflicts, the impending threat of spreading coronavirus variants and consequent restrictions and lockdowns, and the prevalence of cyber attacks and international supply chain disruptions, not to mention political unrest, this retrograde is already shaping up to be a doozy. Perhaps giving us an unpleasant indication of things to come, Venus will square Pluto on Sunday night. On that famous other Libra hand, this may be a warning signal and a chance to test run backup systems and emergency preparedness. In this context, Venus is foreshadowing Mercury. There are three upcoming Mercury Pluto squares, on September 22nd, October 1st and November 2nd, and they will heavily color the character of the retrograde. Paying attention now, while Venus is asking nicely, is advised. This week’s other challenging aspect will peak on Thursday.
That’s when the Mars Neptune opposition will be exact. Neptune’s involvement unfolds slowly and is typically discrete. Direct Mars in clear-minded Virgo may demand clarification.

But Neptune at home in mutable Pisces is likely to evade the probing planet’s dictates entirely. Issues that weren’t resolved under last week’s Pisces Moon may resurface midweek. If answers are still unclear, further instruction will come from Saturday’s trine between clever Mercury and discerning Saturn. They’re bringing in a lucidity that will prove invaluable while tricky Mercury undertakes Libra’s oh so delicate balancing act.

Forecast Aug 23-29, 2021: Out Of Order

For those old enough to remember those phone company recordings about the number you were trying to reach no longer being in service, this week’s aspects could be as familiar as they are annoying. For those young enough to be blissfully oblivious, welcome to the way back machine. From Mars and Mercury being in direct conflict with the Pisces Moon on Monday through a series of incoming quincunxes, the week will be short on agreement and long on inconvenience. Our job will be to determine when to persist and when to postpone. For tasks on the must-do list, strategy is highly recommended. It all begins with impatient Mars transiting patient Virgo, a conundrum in its own right, being opposed by an unfocused Pisces Moon midday on Monday. This will present a classic case of needing to take five unanticipated steps to accomplish one simple task. It will probably also dash hopes of getting the week off to a super productive start. Level-headed Mercury, at home in Virgo, is better suited to navigate the twilight zones of the Pisces Moon Monday night, under their opposition. But, once the Moon links up with Neptune overnight, rationality will get lost in the fog. Midday on Tuesday the Moon will move into assertive Aries. While the Mars ruled sign is generally applauded for its audacity, the Mercury Neptune opposition scheduled for Tuesday evening could easily find insensitive Aries all puffed up, and woefully off-course. Next, on Wednesday, that Aries independence will be at odds with Libra cooperation via a Moon Venus opposition. On Thursday, “Me first” attitudes will be further checked via a late degree Moon Pluto square. Translation, play nicely with others, or else. Those who take the amicable road will be rewarded when the Aries Moon finally forms a friendly sextile with benevolent Jupiter. More conciliatory tones will be struck when Mercury trines Pluto, also on Thursday. Meanwhile, the march of the quincunxes will have set in.

At 150 degrees apart, planets in this configuration are not in the same element, nor do they share modality. So comprehension can disappear completely or prove highly elusive. For example, the cardinal fire of Aries will put the Moon out of sync with the mutable earth of Mars in Virgo on Wednesday and Mercury on Thursday. In turn on Friday, that mutable earth will be incompatible with the fixed air of Aquarius under the Mercury Jupiter quincunx. On Saturday the cardinal air of Libra and the fixed earth of Taurus will find Venus and Uranus in the perplexing angle. Though, as the ruler of Taurus, Venus is better positioned to make some headway in this meeting. The quincunx exacerbates stylistic differences, but those don’t have to lead to major altercations. If waiting for more favorable conditions is possible, this is probably a good week to leave that little black book in the drawer, atop the yellow pages, and take the phone off the hook.

Forecast Aug 16-22, 2021: Conversation with Uranus

Uranus will take center stage during a busy week that will see the influential outer planet station and turn retrograde. Since January, the planet of jolts and disruption has been plodding into the second decant of earthy Taurus. From the fixed sign, its presence has been inextricably linked to ongoing tension with Saturn and more recent discord with the planets traveling through Leo. Facing fewer challenges from planets in fixed signs and in review mode, a more subdued version of astrology’s wrecking ball is heading in. Between now and next January, Uranus will revisit all things 14 to ten degrees of Taurus. Issues that were swept under the rug during the past seven months will likely resurface, and more broadly, their meaning can be examined in the context of this seven year transit. An awakener, a forerunner, and an innovator, Uranus imposes change. Trines from Mercury and Mars this week and on September 6th from the Sun will open up conversations with Uranus, in the clear, practical language of Virgo. This week, the Moon has generously agreed to play translator.

An optimistic Sagittarius Moon will run into some pushback from Mercury and Mars on Monday and Neptune on Tuesday. Ultimately though, encouragement will arrive on Tuesday afternoon via a Leo Sun trine. Next, the Moon will get down to business once it enters ambitious Capricorn late Tuesday night. After clearing a small square from Venus in the wee hours of Wednesday, it will find itself in the highly productive company of Mercury and Mars on Wednesday and heavy lifters Uranus and Pluto on Thursday. Mercury and Mars will also meet on Wednesday, fortifying industrious intentions. So in the span of these few days Mercury and Mars will have demonstrated Virgo’s pickiness and its virtue. Translation, if something’s worth fighting for, put in the painstaking work to attain it. Thursday will also see the final significant fixed sign flareup, for a few months anyway, when the Leo Sun opposes Jupiter. Hopefully, this signals the last box to check or task to accomplish before rewards can be bestowed. An hour later, Uranus will unplug and begin its five month long retrograde. Soothing Virgoan vibes will greet Uranus from Mercury on Friday and Mars on Sunday. When the Moon exits austere Capricorn, the constructive torch will be passed on. In turn, the Aquarius Moon will give a nod to Cap when it conjoins Saturn on Friday, and it will receive the boost it sought from Sag early in the week, when it conjoins euphoric Jupiter on Sunday morning. Celebrations culminate a few hours later, when this Jupiter infused Moon reaches full strength at 29 Aqu 37. Finally, the Sun will exit Leo and move into gentle, grounding Virgo. Its month long sojourn will give us all a chance to collect ourselves, and our thoughts, as we prepare for the onset of autumn 2021.

Forecast Aug 9-15, 2021: Cooler Heads Prevail

This week a welcome confluence of flexibility from Virgo and grace from Libra is set to relieve some of the strain from the past few weeks, or months, depending on your outlook. Add a splash of fluidity from Neptune, and this week may feel like one of the smoothest in awhile. It all begins on Monday morning when the Moon moves into the mutable earth sign of Virgo. An opposition to Neptune in Pisces, from Venus in Virgo, is set for early evening. But even this typically tense angle softens when the players are as compatible as these two, and particularly when they’re both in adaptive mutable signs. Logic and inspiration are in play under this one. Encouraging prompt application of any helpful downloads, the Moon will conjoin motivating Mars, also in considerate Virgo, later in the evening. Tuesday may see an unresolved matter from the recent past resurface when a late degree Mercury Jupiter opposition appears. Unlike Monday’s more amicable opposition, this one involves planets in those intransigent fixed signs. This tug of war is bookended by Virgo Moon trines to Uranus early on Tuesday and Pluto on Wednesday. With these three in earth signs, practical, pragmatic and constructive solutions are within reach, if Mercury or Jupiter aren’t overly entrenched in their positions. Ushering in more calm and order, clever Mercury will exit ferocious Leo and enter its second home of Virgo on Wednesday night. This visit will last until August 30th, bolstering abilities to problem solve methodically, patiently and reasonably.

Wednesday is also when the Moon will move into balanced Libra. From the Venus ruled, air sign, this Moon will trine Saturn on Thursday and Jupiter on Friday, as well as receive a boost from the late degree Leo Sun on Friday. The only snag could be a seismic square to Pluto, also on Friday, the 13th. But Aquarian ingenuity from Saturn and Jupiter linked to this affable Moon give progress a fighting chance. Next, the Moon will head into watery Scorpio on Friday night, where it will merge with oceanic Neptune on Sunday morning. This instinct meets intuition combo will offer guidance, malleability and flow, and perhaps an opportunity to relax. Shoring up stores of tact and intelligence, and wrapping up the week, Venus will enter her second home of Libra in the wee hours of Monday morning. Her homecoming will last until September 10th. The first planetary step into Autumn 2021 (except for the Moon’s monthly ventures), is another signal that some of the summer’s harshness is receding. From their domiciles, Mercury and Venus will bring some much needed ease and elegance to the table.

Forecast Aug 2-8, 2021: Inflection Point

Planetary pressure for needed change will mount throughout the week, but Sunday’s new Leo Moon portends resolution and renewed vitality, on a galactic level. It all begins under the tension of a fixed-sign Sun Saturn opposition, followed by a waning Taurus Moon square to Jupiter early on Monday. The Moon’s extended stay in Cancer, from Wednesday through early Saturday morning, will offer some time for retreat and reflection. But dwelling in Cancer’s emotional shell or playing the victim will no longer work. A new Moon will dawn on Sunday, at 16 Leo 14, reigniting a sense of self-worth and encouraging self-agency. Additionally, leading up that new Moon, a slew of squares from game-changing Uranus are intent on forcing us to face facts and start afresh. In case there’s any confusion as to what specifically needs to go, Tuesday’s Mercury Uranus square is bound to make more than a few things perfectly clear. If hearts, egos and authorities insist on tenaciously clinging to falsehoods, powerhouse Uranus will square the Leo Sun (will, ego, autocrats) on Friday, laying bear what is corrupt and beyond repair. Finally, Uranus will make one final sweep when it squares the dark Leo Moon early Sunday morning. Intuitive and introspective, this dark Leo Moon will support instinctive understanding of the revelations that the Awakener is crystalizing.

Speaking of crystals, most natural diamonds were formed three billion years ago, when enormous pressure from Earth’s gravity combined with extreme heat to transform carbon that was deeply embedded in the Earth’s crust. Others were formed 35 million years ago when an asteroid struck what is now Russia. In the wake of COVID’s original strike, 2021 has indeed continued making irrevocable changes across the globe. Saturn’s transit of fixed Aquarius is only approaching the midway point of its nearly three year journey, and the transit that Uranus’s began in 2018 in fixed Taurus will take seven years to complete. Directly opposed by Saturn and squared by Uranus, Leo natives are indeed enduring a lion’s share of challenges. Fellow fixed signed travelers have fared similarly. But the time for crying over spilled milk is over. Sunday’s new Moon coincides with the 8.8 Lion’s Gate Portal, an annual alignment that links the Leo Sun and Moon and Earth to Sirius. This is our celestial reminder that lionhearted Leo is the conqueror and the entertainer, and like the diamond forged under tremendous pressure, can shine brilliantly. Making sure that we get the memo to recall our radiance, Mercury will conjoin the Moon on Sunday night. In the wee hours of Monday morning, that Moon will face opposition from Jupiter, as will Mercury next Tuesday, before heading home into Virgo on the 11th. The heat isn’t letting up anytime soon. But what can change this week, is perspective.

Sep 16-22, 2019: Not Going Gentle Into That Good Night

The last week of 2019’s Virgo Sun cycle will be anything but the calm, cool and collected rendition of a passing of the mutable earth sign. That’s because the week will see Uranus make a lunar conjunction, Saturn turn direct, Mars and Pluto combine their considerable forces and the year’s final Jupiter square to Neptune. This is some Virgo housekeeping on an order of magnitude that we have not seen in quite some time. First, because the moon changes signs every few days, its activity typically only comes into focus at its new, full and dark phases. But when wild, unorthodox Uranus is in the picture, even the moon can become a big celestial deal. The two will meet in earthy Taurus on Tuesday and set off the week’s shockwaves. On Wednesday stern Saturn will emerge from its five-month retrograde in the fellow earth sign of Capricorn and start laying down the law. Mars and Pluto, also in earth signs, will follow up on Thursday with a powerful trine. Saturn and Pluto have been traversing the sign of governments, corporations and institutions for nearly two years, and both have been retrograde since late April. From their Capricorn retrograde vantage point, they’ve been looking into systemic corruption and scrutinizing those misusing their positions of power. Since early April both have also been provoking the North Node in Cancer, putting a cosmic lens on children. Saturn’s last opposition to the North Node in fact occurred on July 4th, right around the time when Jeffrey Epstein’s alleged criminal enterprises shifted from right-wing conspiracies into worldwide headlines. Saturn’s next North Node opposition is scheduled for September 28th. and Pluto is set to turn direct on October 3rd (MST). Thursday’s Pluto trine to Mars in meticulous Virgo indicates a deeper probing into yet more abuses of power. That Mars, Saturn and Pluto are working in earth signs indicates tangible rewards for their efforts. Mercury and Venus are in cardinal Libra, the sign of legal affairs and justice. leading their own charge for fairness and equality. Beyond that, on the same day that Pluto turns direct, Mercury will head into Scorpio for an extraordinary nine week stay, its next retrograde and a transit of the Sun. Pluto and Scorpio transform and purify what they uncover. On a related track and topping off the current week, Saturday will see 2019’s final Jupiter square to Neptune under a Gemini moon. This battle royal of planets in mutable signs is another layer of a greater cosmic sweep. Since Mars and the Sun have been in Virgo, house cleaning has been a hot topic. For many, this has happened on a literal level via in-home clutter clearing, for others it’s happened on an emotional or relationship basis and on a more collective level, it’s been happening in the corridors of power. This week as the Sun reaches peak Virgo before changing signs on the 23rd, brooding Mars, like a hurricane, continues gaining momentum in the detailed, organized sign. With so many of this year’s defining aspects set to be reactivated and brought to their logical conclusions during this last week of Virgo, it’s bound to be remembered for its next-level brand of cleanup.

Forecast Sep 9-15, 2019: Sailing Through The Siren Songs

Though a plethora of planets will remain in rational, practical Virgo for most of this eventful week, Neptune and a full Pisces moon will present a series of challenges to Virgo’s calm, methodical modus operandi. From its home in mystical Pisces, Neptune will form direct oppositions to the Virgo Sun on Tuesday and to Mars, also in Virgo, early Saturday morning. Similarly, an overnight Full moon early Saturday will put all of us under that illusive and confusing Pisces influence. And even before we reach peak Pisces full moon, a contentious squabble between Mars and Jupiter will erupt on Thursday, forcing more issues to the fore. That one is taking place as the year’s final Jupiter square to Neptune mounts to its September 21st standoff. Astrology’s mutable signs clear clutter and prepare us for the incoming undertakings of the cardinal sign cycles, and this week the Sun, Venus, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Neptune and that full moon will be in mutable signs. Something’s got to give, and the squares and oppositions being formed by these planets will be showing us exactly what that something is. So while we tumble through this week and struggle with what to leave in and what to leave behind, Neptune’s indelible fingerprints will be all over our decision-making. On the helpful side, the oceanic outer planet of music, poetry and art will offer spiritual insights and a big picture perspective. From its shadow side, which is particularly pronounced with Neptune at home in Pisces, we’ll have to guard against delusion, addiction (yes that includes tech) and endless ambiguity. If all of that sounds, or feels, too daunting, look for some brutal honestly on Friday when the Sun and Pluto join forces in a supportive trine. Pluto’s take no prisoners approach may seem harsh, but its relentless quest for the truth will prove enlightening and a dependable antidote to Piscean escapism. On Saturday Mercury and Venus will slip into the cardinal air sign of Libra, a signal that we are indeed stepping into new territory. In fact, the week will conclude with the moon in pioneering Aries. And although Venus and Mercury’s shifts into Libra signify the onset of a new phase, there’s still plenty of Virgo discernment available while the Sun is there until the 23rd and Mars until October 4th. Best look? Sporting a Bose headset when your ship passes those seductive, singing sirens.

Forecast Sep 2-8, 2019: Lock On Target

The best way to navigate the kaleidoscopic week ahead is to keep your aims, values and destination firmly and foremost in mind. A plethora of planetary supports and challenges are about to roll out in rapid succession. Setting your course early in the week, as well as having a list of alternative routes and backup contingencies at the ready, will help immensely. Mars starts the week with conjunctions to the Sun on Monday and Mercury on Tuesday, and on Tuesday the Sun and Mercury will also get on the same page. In the background throughout the week, Mars’ trine to steadfast Saturn builds to its late Sunday night crescendo. Together, Mars and Saturn provide a steady supply of motivation and endurance. That will come in handy because the week’s challenges get underway just as quickly. Monday will also find Venus and Jupiter at odds, most likely fighting over relationship/money. If left unresolved, their arguments are likely to rear back up on Friday when Mercury squares Jupiter and again on Sunday when the Sun does the same. Any fault lines that surface now are probably part and parcel of the massing Jupiter square to Neptune that will be exact on the 21st. So, instead of dancing around what’s uncomfortable or trying to smooth it over with Venusian pleasantries, it’s best to address issues head-on and let the chips fall where they may. But orderly, mutable Virgo has a distinct distaste for direct confrontation, and Neptune will be bringing its characteristic confusion to the the table when it opposes Venus on Wednesday and Mercury on Saturday. So getting the story straight, before running headlong into battle, will be tricky and imperative. This week’s unfolding aspects underscore the importance of charting a clear course from the beginning, when the Sun, Mercury and Mars are in conference. By week’s end, Mars and Saturn will rendezvous and Mercury will confer with Pluto, and both meetings will take place in the reliable earth signs. Best look? Laser-like focus and some battery powered backup.
