On January 19th the Sun will move into inventive, futuristic Aquarius under a Libra Moon. Jupiter’s presence in Gemini completes the triplicity of signs kicking off this cycle from and activating the mental, rational and intellectual element of air. That said, the North Node of the Moon recently slipped back into dreamy Pisces, where Venus, Saturn and Neptune are residing. From the mutable water sign, messages are transmitted via symbols, myths, art and divination. 2025’s solar journey through fixed air may feel like waking up from one of those dreams in which something important was being conveyed. If one can relax the mind, some fragment of the dream usually surfaces. Held gently, that sliver unveils other details and the dream’s meaning. The abundance and nature of air alignments during the Aquarius cycle is an invitation to explore this dance between the conscious and unconscious. Another dance that will begin during the coming Sun cycle is the one between Pisces and Aries, a hallmark of the entire year’s astrology.
On the cerebral side, transformative Pluto is set to conjoin the Sun on January 21st and Mercury on January 28th, following the Messenger planet’s Aquarius ingress on the 27th. Then Pluto will loosely connect with January 29th’s new Aquarius Moon at 9º Aquarius 51′. In Greek mythology Pluto, then called Hades, was lord of the underworld, a realm though which seekers journeyed for development. Thus the planet is associated with facing and overcoming fears and blocks, purification and renewal. Modern astrologers consider Uranus to be the ruler of Aquarius, and this change-making planet will station direct on the 30th at 23º Taurus 16′. These transmissions from powerhouse planets Uranus and Pluto to the personal planets indicate that the Gods are talking. As Uranus stations direct, the Sun will trine benefic Jupiter in Mercury-ruled Gemini, the sign Uranus will enter in early July. Next, Mercury will trine Jupiter on February 3rd, just before Jupiter stations direct on the 4th at 11º Gemini 16′. Finally, the Sun will conjoin Mercury on February 9th. This Gemini dimension suggests the presence of a capable translator, ideal for converting symbolic material into concrete terms.
Also on the 4th, Venus will venture into audacious Aries. This is an uncomfortable placement for the planet of beauty, possessions and relationships. Ruled by provocative Mars, Aries is assertive, competitive and independent. Venus, ruler of partnership oriented Libra, prefers collaboration and cooperation. But as the saying goes, the only way out is through. In 2025, Venus, along with Mercury, Saturn and Neptune, will tour Aries terrain before retrograding back into Pisces. Additionally, the eclipses are transitioning from the Aries-Libra axis to the Pisces-Virgo one, along with the lunar Nodes. Introducing this trend, Venus will cross the shadow of her forthcoming retrograde at 24° Pisces 37′ on January 28th. Her retrograde will begin on March 1st at 10° Aries 50′. She will station direct on April 12th and exit the Rx shadow zone on May 16th. Interestingly, on the day Venus starts her retrograde, Mercury will cross the shadow of its next retrograde at 26° Pisces 49′. The Messenger’s retrograde will take place between March 15th and April 7th, with a shadow exit point of 9° Aries 36′ on April 26th. I’ll delve into that in the Sun into Pisces edition. For now, note the key planetary action taking place as Venus’s Rx cycle begins and that both retrogrades will trace nearly the exact same paths.
As Venus enters her retrograde shadow zone, Pluto will make those connections with the Sun, Mercury and the Aquarius new Moon, Uranus and Jupiter will station direct, Venus will conjoin Neptune, on February 1st, and the North Node will conjoin Neptune, at 28° Pisces 09′ on February 7th. That North Node conjunction point tracks with the Mercury and Venus retrogrades. Imaginative, inexplicit Neptune is considered to be the higher octave of Venus, so these conjunctions in Pisces should send some guidance. Like Neptune, Pisces’s language is also subtle and ethereal, and its intuitive power uncanny. That said, if tea leaf reading is too esoteric, then the broadcasts emanating from the Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, Pluto and the Moon’s two passes through Libra under the Aquarius Sun should be loud and clear. In both languages, the personal planets are conferring with the outer ones as one of 2025’s main features, the Pisces Aries experience, is coming into view.
