If you’ve ever considered unplugging all of your devices, retreating to some secluded corner of the world and returning only when the coast is clear, then the next few weeks are an ideal time to set those plans into motion. A combination of outer planet quincunx placements, inner planet conflicts with Pluto and heightened fixed sign friction is inbound. Astrology’s quincunx is not one of its harsh angles per se. Planets are simply 150 degrees apart, which places them in signs with varying elements and modalities. By contrast, when the planets find themselves in astrology’s other familiar angles, they share a common trait. For instance, when conjunct or in a trine, planets share the same element. In a square, they share modality and in opposition, they share modality and polarization, positive or negative. But in the quincunx, there is no common ground. For example, on June 28th Venus, in the fixed fire sign of Leo, will be exactly 150 degrees away from Jupiter, in the mutable water sign of Pisces. August Leo and flexible Pisces express themselves in markedly different ways. Over the next two months, as Mars, Venus, and later Mercury and the Sun travel through Leo, they will face Jupiter and Neptune in Pisces and Pluto in the cardinal earth sign of Capricorn. Similarly, the Sun and Mercury in Cancer will undergo uncomfortable encounters with Saturn in Aquarius. Again the planets aren’t so much squabbling with one another, so much as they are failing to understand one another. This utter lack of comprehension often insures an equal lack of agreement. Communication will be further jumbled as we emerge from the shadow of Mercury’s retrograde.Add some of that characteristic Cancer indirectness, and absolute clarity may prove highly elusive.
But as the Sun, Moon and Mercury venture through the cardinal water sign, they will be all be confronted by Pluto, the planet that has no problem laying issues bare. Pluto will oppose the Cancer Moon on July 10th, the Sun on the 17th and Mercury on the 25th. If we are willing to see revelations as opportunities to heal the old wounds that Cancer otherwise loves to cling to, then Pluto’s transformational medicine can be put to good use. From integrative Pisces, Jupiter will trine Mercury on July 12th and Neptune will trine the Sun on the 15th, assisting intentions to relinquish past grievances. Whatever Pluto, Jupiter and Neptune cannot pry from Cancer claws, a massive fixed sign t-square is sure to jar loose. From Leo, Mars will oppose Saturn on July 1st and square Uranus on the 3rd, under a Taurus Moon. Fixed signs possess their own form of reluctance. Yet under the pressure of this formidable t-square, something or someone will have to give. This cosmic collision will occur over the “holiday” weekend in the US, so choose your company wisely. But should showdowns show up, be prepared to examine and heal their triggers.
