This week’s edgy tone is set from the start. But some refreshment will arrive on Friday night, courtesy of the new Cancer Moon, and more will come on Sunday when Mercury moves into Cancer. Until then, we’re in for a contentious ride. Monday’s aspects tell the tale. The Sun will align with erratic Uranus, a busy-body Gemini Moon will pick a fight with Jupiter, in the sign that just wants everyone to get along or to at least mellow out, Pisces, and an explosive fixed sign t-square will draft diplomatic Venus into combat. The battles will continue into Tuesday when Mercury’s square to Neptune will pick up where the Gemini Moon and Jupiter left off and a Venus Saturn opposition will add fire and air combustion to fixed sign warfare. Venus in Leo loves to live lavishly and Saturn in cool-headed Aquarius sets limits. Finding common ground will prove difficult. Things improve somewhat on Wednesday as Mercury exits the shadow of last month’s retrograde. But before shifting into watery Cancer, an excitable Gemini Moon will challenge none other than Pluto, via a confusing quincunx. Gemini’s ruler, mischievous Mercury, will double down on the bewilderment on Thursday, when it forms its quincunx to Pluto. Meanwhile, on the fixed sign front, the Venus square to volatile Uranus will finally be exact. In this iteration of Tuesday’s confrontation with Saturn, money-minded Venus is having it out with Uranus in the sign of income, Taurus. Bad financial news, and likely on a global scale, is bound to make headlines as this fixed sign t-square continues agitating disruptive Uranus and no-nonsense Saturn. In the near term, the Moon will enter Leo on Saturday, and further out, a late Leo degree Mars will oppose Jupiter on July 29th, two days after Mercury moves into the fixed fire sign. In short, the friction being furthered this week is not about to let up anytime soon. That said, some relief is in store.
Cancer is the sign of home, family and emotional security, and on Friday night the new Cancer Moon will appear. The days leading up to it signal a time for housekeeping. Whether this is a literal deep clean (ceiling fan blades and refrigerator tops included), the discarding of old or worn out items or the cleaning up of strained familial relations, a celestial effort to make way for the new is at hand. Cancer’s crab is a curious creature. Instinctively it craves emotional tranquility, and paradoxically its cardinal character compels movement and change. Mental Mercury might solve this cosmic conundrum while it inhabits the sign from Sunday through July 27th. Its venture through these intuitive waters will find supportive insights coming from Jupiter and Neptune in Pisces and July 18th’s Scorpio Moon. If we can pull back and tune into them, we might determine which of our current struggles are failing to provide lasting emotional satisfaction and which are indeed worth fighting for.
