Forecast Jun 24-30, 2019: Straight From The Heart

Mercury enters Leo for a long summer stay.

The phrase “as one door closes another one opens” is apt for a week that will offer up a cosmic quest that we’ll be wrestling with until late August. The Pisces moon always signals closure, and the 24th’s Venus square to Neptune is the last of the long series of mutable squares we’ve endured since late May. During that time, things crashed and things burned. This final square sweeps away any remaining debris. Next, the moon will of course move into motivational Aries, the enlivening fire sign of ignition and initiation. From there those proverbial doors begin opening. It’s under this Aries moon that the Messenger of the Gods, Mercury, moves into the fellow fire sign of Leo. Normally, speedy Mercury enjoys racing around the zodiac. It fills the airwaves, our heads and conversations with the ideas associated with each sign, and quickly moves on. But it’s next retrograde from Leo back into Cancer will have us (re)-examining our concepts about all things leonine.

On the lighter side, stylish and lavish Leo can be linked to vanity and appearance (those manes) and frivolity and extravagance (those parties). But something deeper fuels those regal flames. Being a fixed sign, Leo is loyal. Its home is the 5th House, so it is innately and highly creative. And signified by the lion, it is the sign of courage, leadership and even royalty. Mercury’s prolonged stay, which includes two tours of Leo, may just be signaling that it’s time to search our hearts for the heroes we strive to be in the world. What are we standing for? What are our values? How do we fight for what we want with love and dignity? In its highest expression, Leo exudes unparalleled generosity and magnanimity. It is the Lion King. When fleet-footed Mercury enters the lion’s den this week, it might just be instigating a much bigger and broader conversation. Of course the upcoming retrograde will take Mercury back into watery, cardinal Cancer. So high-minded ideals will have their sea-worthiness tested when feelings get real. Balancing raw emotions and virtue is a challenging, noble and worthy quest. Mercury will visit Leo from June 26th-July 19 and then from August 11-29th. Best look? A true heart overflowing with valor

Clearing The Last Mutable Hurdle

Since late May it’s been one mutable square after the next, and on Saturday, the 22nd of June, the final stage gets underway. Though more subtle than cardinal and fixed squares, mutable squares nonetheless leave their indelible mark. They are here to clear out what we no longer need and to prepare us for our next big steps. Under an emotional Pisces moon, one that will conjoin oceanic Neptune, we are likely to deeply feel and grieve current losses. That Pisces is astrology’s last sign adds to the sense of finality. This last phase of this nearly month-long process ends with a Venus square to Neptune on the 24th, just a few days into the start of summer. So, if things have been falling apart and away for the past three weeks, there is a reason. Trust that your Soul knows your course, and that soon the puzzle pieces that have been so elusive will soon begin falling into place, finally! Best look? Faith, trust in God and inner peace

Forecast Jun 17-23, 2019: Wrapping Things Up

The Sun gets ready to visit Cancer

From a t-square full moon to summer solstice, this week is big. Things get underway in the shadow of a major square between Jupiter and Neptune from the 16th, leading into a 25-degree full Sagittarius moon early Monday morning. The planets are putting the pressure on all of us to release, make changes or let something important go. Tuesday and Wednesday will see the moon make significant and supportive connections with all three outer planets and Saturn, while Mercury and Mars meet in nurturing Cancer. The shift from mutable to cardinal alignments is telling us that new beginnings are emerging. By Friday we may be feeling festive and ready to partake in Solstice celebrations. But, with one more mutable t-square set to start on the 22nd, we may reach the end of the week with still more details needing to be ironed out. Things are being sorted out. Hang in there and keep your courage handy.

Forecast Jun 3-9, 2019: Time To Prioritize

Venus moves into Gemini as the mutable t-square takes shape

A new Gemini moon begins a week that will see Mercury and Venus change signs, as well as our first full encounters with the incoming mutable t-squares. Like last week’s start, the moon in a mutable sign will contribute to the escalating tensions among the planets in mutable signs. Something important is shaking loose. While the year’s second Jupiter square to Neptune builds to its June 16th crescendo in the background, Mercury will slip into emotional Cancer, joining provocative Mars and the North Node, and Venus will step into the mutable fray on Saturday when she moves into Gemini. Over the weekend a Virgo moon will force some of these tensions to a head as the Gemini Sun squares Neptune in Pisces and prepares to oppose Jupiter in Sagittarius on Monday. Prioritize now and know when to let go.

Here It Comes

Mercury set to square Neptune and oppose Jupiter

Well, if the Pisces moon we had early in the week didn’t sound any intuitive alarms, informative Mercury is about to turn up the volume.  On Wednesday, the 29th, it squares gargantuan Neptune and on Thursday, the 30th, it opposes larger-than-life Jupiter.  These aspects occur under the blunt and direct force of an Aries moon.  Examining, and where necessary, curbing our excesses is a key topic throughout the current Gemini Sun cycle.  This week the winged Messenger of the Gods is giving us a taste of what’s about to unfurl.  This Gemini solar run features the year’s next Jupiter Neptune square, the day before a Sagittarius full moon, as well as the pressure of a multitude of mutable t-squares.  Jupiter, in its lower expression, is the would-be-king who is full of hot air, and Neptune, at its worst, presides over oceans of self-delusion and next level checking out.  If we’re living beyond our means, engaging in costly addictions and distractions or simply failing to get our act together, Mercury is about drop some truth on us.  One of the more valuable traits of the mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces) is their adaptability.  Nimble and flexible, they know when to let go and when to change plans.  If we can make the appropriate decisions and adjustments this week, we’re in for a much smoother ride over the coming weeks, and months.  Remember, Mars is on course for confrontations with Saturn and Pluto in June and reality-checking Saturn, the ringed planet of limitations, is on track for a friendly connection to Neptune mid-month.  If we let Mercury help us clarify our priorities now, austere Saturn will be along shortly to reward our focused efforts.  So, get mindful and be prepared to move like a Ninja.

Forecast May 27-June 2, 2019: The Fortuitous Pisces Moon

Pisces Moon
A sweet, innocent Pisces moon starts a lot of commotion

The week starts with a fortuitous Pisces moon, which, in its inimitable way, is showing us both the challenges and strengths unfolding in the current Gemini Sun cycle. On Monday alone, this Pisces moon will square Mercury and Jupiter, conjoin Neptune and sextile Venus, Saturn and Pluto. Later in the week Mercury, home in Gemini, will square Neptune and oppose Jupiter, and Venus, home in Taurus, will sextile Neptune before trining Saturn on Friday and powerful Pluto on Sunday. The intuitive Pisces moon that begins the week is acting like our internal early detection system, psychically scanning our fields for raw intel. Informed by the spiritual data, we can navigate the inbound turbulence and get well-positioned for the week’s extra bountiful aspects. A few quincunx aspects will throw some wonkiness our way. But for groovy Pisces, the weirder the better. Be sure to tune into the cosmic messages downloading on Monday and Tuesday. They are offering the vision that can guide us to soul-level riches far beyond the present week.

Neptune Trine The North Node: Time For Reflection

Behind the busy scenes of the Sun and Mercury jumping into chatty Gemini, a much subtler and more impactful aspect is taking shape. Neptune in Pisces creates a supportive trine to the North Node in Cancer late Tuesday night. This connection gives us both some relief from the ongoing and more direct Pluto and Saturn oppositions to the North Node and the ability to gently release what is no longer needed, Unlike the fast-paced inner planet transits, the influence of this trine lasts for at least two to three weeks, if not months, on either side of its exact connection point. Gently dissolving hard lines to facilitate the soul’s growth is what you may be experiencing internally. So, while the world outside might get carried away with Gemini chatter, you may be guided to unplug and spend some alone time. Meditating on your life’s next big steps is being supported by the spiritual and agreeable combination of Neptune and the North Node.

Mars In Cancer: The Housecleaning Begins

Why so crabby? Mars enters Cancer

Aggressive Mars is known for stirring the pot, and agitating Cancer is astrology’s cardinal water sign. So every two years, when Mars comes for a visit, we expect emotions to be triggered and issues concerning home, family and domestic and emotional security to surface. And, Cancer’s penchant for nostalgia has a way of bringing up the past. 2019’s transit is no exception. In fact, this year’s Mars journey through Cancer is packing a much bigger punch than usual, and here’s why. The moon’s North Node and all of the inner planets will be traveling through Cancer when Mars is in the vicinity, the Mars transit ends the day before a solar eclipse in Cancer, most of Mercury’s next retrograde will take place in Cancer, and Saturn, Pluto and the moon’s South Node will oppose Mars, and the other planets in Cancer, from austere and equally intentional Capricorn. Things get underway when the Sun is in patient, compatible Taurus in mid-May. By early June Mercury will join Mars in Cancer, and from there the two will begin their oppositions to retrograding Saturn and Pluto. Those clashes will lead right up the Cancer Sun cycle and ensuing solar eclipse and Mercury retrograde in Cancer.

The key to navigating these turbulent waters is emotional integrity. Instead of allowing emotions to overtake us, into outbursts and other problematic reactions, we can examine our responses to their intensity. Why does someone make us feel that angry? What story are we telling ourselves about an incident from the past? How are we interpreting the present situation? Why are we so triggered? If we can trace these feelings back to their origins, as suggested by the Saturn, Pluto and Mercury retrogrades and South Node oppositions, we may well be able to resolve the underlying issues, reframe our current circumstances and clarify our direction ahead. The presence of Saturn and Pluto in this unfolding drama points to the severity of the situation and the degree to which we need to be brutally honest with ourselves, and others. That’s never easy, especially when it comes to messy, uncomfortable emotions, like anger. Ah, but that’s where the cosmic medicine lives.

Anger is Mars’ domain. The red planet has been associated with war for millennia, and to this day, its two-year transit correlates to the terrible twos stage of childhood development. Mars is all about throwing a tantrum, and sometimes, all manner of Hell is in dire need of being raised. Sometimes we’ve put up with something or someone for far too long or are way past the expiration date of taking our soul’s next step. Anger can be righteous. The tricky and critical piece of this volatile emotional puzzle is determining what needs to change. Is it internal or external? It’s not so much what we are battling against so much as it is what we are fighting for. Pluto is a significant part of this cosmic equation, and its mission is transformation. But, the powerful outer planet demands no less than the truth. Working alongside of it is sober Saturn, the ringed planet that also exacts a certain form of truth and enforces the law. Both are set to directly oppose Mars in mid June.

Parents (Saturn and Capricorn) often employ the “time out” (Saturn) technique when children (Cancer) are spiraling out of emotional control. Taking some time to pause and reflect upon what drives (Mars) us, our motives and desires, long before an emotional crisis provokes us, would be a beneficial endeavor during the Mars transit. Or if we’re caught off guard and the old emotions erupt, stepping away from the tumult long enough to consider our histories and options could be life-changing. If the impulses are coming from an unhealthy (unhealed) place, we can learn (Saturn) how to be our own best explosives specialist and carefully dismantle the internal bombs. Rendering them harmless frees us the inner turmoil they create and others from their fallout. If, on the other hand, a cause is just or it is indeed time to make big changes, Mars will inspire and energize us. Like the great warriors of the ages, we will take to our respective battlefields, with vigor and ferocity, and fight until our enemies are eliminated and all needed change is fully and irrevocably implemented. Remember, the South Node, Saturn and Pluto are presently residing in systemic Capricorn. From there, they signal that a major purge lies before us. The arrival of Mars into Cancer tells us that the housecleaning has begun.

Trauma & Transformation

Jul 4th 17 Cap 37
Sep 28th 13 Cap 59 & New Moon 5 Lib 20

Capricorn is the home sign of Saturn and Cancer the domain of the moon. Pluto is the planet of destruction and purification, and the lunar Nodes are indicators of the past (South) and future (North). Back on April 4th, Pluto, along with the South Node of the moon, formed an exact opposition to the North Node of the moon. Beginning on April 30th, Saturn and the South Node will begin a series of three oppositions to the North Node. Those will occur until early autumn and while both Saturn and Pluto are retrograde. Saturn, Pluto and the South Node are in the sign of Capricorn and the North Node is in Cancer. These signs are concerned with parenting and caregiving. Throughout 2019, the Capricorn/Cancer axis is especially active. In part, this is because three of the year’s four eclipses are taking place in Capricorn and Cancer, including a total solar eclipse in Cancer set for July 2nd.

What Pluto and the South Node began unearthing in early April will send powerful shockwaves over the next five months, if not throughout the remainder of the year. That Pluto goes retrograde on April 24th and Saturn on the 29th is a further indication that past deeds are bound to be revisited. In addition to the emphasis on the past created by nostalgic Cancer, the South Node connections and the retrogradation of both Saturn and Pluto, most of informative Mercury’s next retrograde in July will be spent in Cancer. Bookending all of these events, the year’s first eclipse, a solar one in Capricorn, took place on January 5th and its final eclipse, a partial solar one also in Capricorn, will happen on December 26th.

There are multiple scenarios for how these alignments will play out, but there’s an unmistakable emphasis on trauma and transformation. And it’s about to intensify. In our personal lives, this is a time for healing childhood hurts and traumas and for resolving outstanding issues between parents and children. Saturn represents sobriety, reality and law enforcement, and Pluto frequents the Underworld and is one of the three society-shaping outer planets. In Capricorn, their focus is on systemic reform. Because Capricorn deals with banking, institutions and government, on the global stage, we’re likely to witness the exposure of child trafficking networks and their high-profile supporters. In short, a perfect storm is now underway, a storm intent on bringing dark to light.
