In a year that has seen any number of obstacles thrown at a lot of people, forward movement is a blessing. Typically lightening-fast Mercury has been stuck in slow motion since mid October. In 2020, the annoying delays associated with Mercury retrogrades have been compounded by the frustrations of a simultaneous Mars retrograde. On Tuesday, the fleet-footed ruler of technology, commerce and communication will station direct. On the 13th, Mars will also station direct, ending its retrograde which began all the way back on September 9th. Mercury and Mars are personal planets.
Mercury in Scorpio
Forecast Oct 19-25, 2020: Good Housekeeping
You know that things are going to get interesting during a week when Venus is flirting with Jupiter, Pluto and Saturn and the Sun is moving into Scorpio and heading into a meeting with retrograde Mercury. In the aftermath of Mars’ unfriendly square to jovial Jupiter, the week gets off to quite a bumpy start. As the reverberations from that dispute settle down, a Scorpio-ensconced Mercury will boldly sting unpredictable Uranus, on Monday night. This is the second of their three oppositions, and this time Mercury’s retrograde status promises to make events all the more exciting, and maybe memorable. On the same day and in stark contrast, we have one of the year’s most fortunate trines, between benefics Venus and Jupiter with both in earth signs.
Forecast Oct 12-18, 2020: Telling Secrets
The planets in cardinal signs are in a tense t-square throughout the week, 2020’s final Jupiter sextile to Neptune is underway and Mercury’s next retrograde starts on Tuesday. The cardinal hot spots include the Sun opposing Mars on Tuesday and squaring Pluto on Thursday and Saturn on Sunday, the day when Mars will square Jupiter. Additionally, on Friday we’ll have a new Moon at 23 Libra 53, while Mars is at 20 degrees of Aries and Jupiter, Pluto and Saturn are at 19, 22 and 25 degrees of Capricorn. Venus-ruled Libra is renowned for its refinement, elegance and fairness. But the Sun and the Moon transits of the cardinal air sign will challenge our ability to stay congenial, cooperative and balanced.
Forecast Oct 5-11, 2020: Soul Food
The Moon’s visits to Taurus and Cancer are always especially good occasions to sooth the soul. Both signs are yin, or inward oriented, and both are strongly associated with nourishment. When a week also includes the first of three Mercury oppositions to chaotic Uranus and another barrage of cardinal conflicts, self-care becomes more of a necessity than a luxury. Such a week is at hand.
Forecast Sep 28 – Oct 4, 2020: Catching Moonbeams
This week’s events are momentous. They include Saturn and Pluto stationing direct, our second Mars square to Saturn, a full Aries Moon and Venus changing signs. When the action gets this dramatic on the outside, seeking refuge within becomes more important than usual. The body astrologers credit with describing our interior landscape is the Moon. It represents emotional needs, instinct and the unconscious. This week it moves from Pisces to Aries to Taurus, conjoining Neptune, Mars and Uranus along the way. No matter how loud and chaotic things may get out there, the Moon is beckoning us to tune into intuition and to explore our inner worlds.
