Quietly in the background, the lunar Nodes have been working their mutable magic. Last May, when all of the cardinal sign action was the center of attention, the Nodes stepped away from the fray and slipped into Gemini and Sagittarius. For the past two months, the planetary focus has been on the dogged fixed signs. On one hand, people whose charts have strong mutable sign placements have felt relieved. For Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces, the pressure’s been off. On that notorious other hand, the role of the mutable modality is just as essential as those of its counterparts. Where the cardinals thrust and probe and the fixed resolve and sustain, mutables dissolve and prepare. Their capacity to soften is accentuated when Venus is engaged.
Sun Into Virgo 2014: Power Station
Forecast Feb 15-21, 2021: Shake It Up
Giving us an immediate hint about its unfolding excitement, this week starts with the waxing Moon in saucy Aries. Headstrong and audacious, the Mars-ruled sign needs to be where the action is. This brief lunar transit is the opening act for the week’s main event, Wednesday’s Saturn square to Uranus. When the planet of tradition is confronted by the planet of rebellion, the exhilaration that began the week is likely jump the shark into another dimension. This one is the first of the three squares that the two powerhouse planets will make during 2021.
Forecast Feb 8-14, 2021: Riding The Lightening
The free-wheeling, freedom-loving zest of outlying, original Aquarius will get hyper-active this week when a six-planet super stellium coalesces around Thursday’s new Moon. Throw in a hearty challenge to retrograde Mercury, from a Uranus-emboldened Mars midweek, and the Messenger making three conjunctions to celestial companions, and we are in for one wild week. The action starts on Monday with Mercury’s first conjunction, to the Aquarius Sun.
Forecast Feb 1-7, 2021: Higher Love
The undisputed star of this week’s astrology is Venus. She is the planet of beauty, pleasure and love, and this week begins with her entering lofty Aquarius. Like a cosmic transmitter, Aquarius will broadcast Venusian messages of love and the greater good throughout this transit, and these transmissions that will always offer guidance from the perspective of the Higher Heart.
Forecast Jan 25-31, 2021: Deft Glassblowing
For those who are well-versed in their studies of astrology, the concept of Sabian Symbols is familiar. For the rest, this is a body of work which assigns specific images to each degree point in all twelve signs. Thus, Leo at 9 degrees is matched with the idea of glassblowers. While this week is action-packed from start to finish, its focal point is the full Moon at 9 Leo 06. Foreshadowing it, on Tuesday, the early Aquarius Sun will square Uranus. That square and the full Leo Moon epitomize the fixed sign friction of current celestial conditions. Thursday’s full Moon will be preceded by a Venus Pluto conjunction, and succeeded by a Sun Jupiter conjunction.
Forecast Jan 18-24, 2021: Making Moxie
Translation, there’s a whole lotta Aquarius coming in, and it’s happening on a scale that we haven’t seen for decades. Quirky, rule-bending and always original, Aquarius invites us to step out of the comfort zone and into experimental realms. The sign’s ingenuity and mental acumen may prove quite handy as we navigate the kaleidoscopic and turbulent start of 2021. Our first adaptation test will come straight on the heels of the Sun’s sign change, when Mars conjoins Uranus on January 20th.
Forecast Jan 11-17, 2021: Moving Mountains
On Tuesday night we get one of each year’s best occasions to chart a course for long-term goals, the new Capricorn Moon. This new Moon dawns as the incoming barrage of fixed sign squares begins its volley. Capricorn aims and accomplishes. Being the cardinal earth sign and ruled by Saturn, it is naturally imbued with drive, realism and abiding determination. The Moon rules daily routines and moods, and is thus associated with the endless tides of fleeting and fluctuating emotional states. Ringed Saturn is quite different. It is the planet of structure and limitations. Where we are prone to lolly-gagging, living beyond our means or squandering opportunities, stern, austere Saturn steps in. It reminds us of the finiteness of our resources, particularly that of time.
Forecast Jan 4-10, 2021: Getting Mercurial
The first full week of 2021 begins dramatically, with clever Mercury conjoining metamorphic Pluto in Capricorn on Monday and then austere Saturn in Aquarius on Saturday. In between, the Messenger planet along with Venus and Mars will change signs. Those shifts will put Mercury and Mars on course for an important square late Friday, and on parallel fixed sign paths for the next two months.
Forecast Dec 21-31, 2020: The Last Blast
When looking back over the past six months, there has been a curious constant, Mars in Aries. For those who like life on the spicy side, this transit has offered a nearly inexhaustible supply of motivation and vigor, with heaps of variety. For the battle weary, news that the feisty planet is leaving the fiery sign is a welcomed relief. Neither side can deny the passionate influence of this transit or the indelible mark it leaves.
Forecast Dec 14-20, 2020: Exploration & Endurance
Venus will move into high-spirited Sagittarius on Tuesday and Mercury will enter sober Capricorn on Sunday. These transits are brief, with both lasting until January 8th. The mixed bag they offer will have Venus inviting us to meet and mingle, while Mercury will be more serious and subdued. The Saturn and Jupiter shifts into inventive, original Aquarius, on the 16th and 19th, are more significant and much longer-lasting. Jupiter will be in the fixed air sign until December 28, 2021, and Saturn until March of 2023. Saturn is the restrictive, greater malefic and Jupiter the expansive, greater benefic. That we’ll be spending the next year with these contradictory bodies inhabiting the same sign warrants a review of Aquarius.
