The Moon’s visits to Taurus and Cancer are always especially good occasions to sooth the soul. Both signs are yin, or inward oriented, and both are strongly associated with nourishment. When a week also includes the first of three Mercury oppositions to chaotic Uranus and another barrage of cardinal conflicts, self-care becomes more of a necessity than a luxury. Such a week is at hand. Monday’s Taurus Moon will receive supportive sextiles from Jupiter, Pluto and Saturn. Taurus is grounded and productive, making this a good day to roll up our sleeves and apply some elbow grease, all be it at a relaxed pace. Late Monday night the Moon will move into chatty Gemini, where it will not be under too much pressure. Gemini is the mutable air sign in charge of technology, travel and commerce. While most of us are not exactly jet-setting around the globe these days, the Gemini Moon is good for short trips, communication and networking. Monday and Tuesday are in fact the most frictionless days of the week.
Then comes Wednesday, with the first of three Mercury oppositions to Uranus. Mercury is in Scorpio, the passionate water sign of detectives, and disruptive Uranus is uncomfortably residing in stable Taurus. Taurus is concerned with resources, so its realms extend to financial markets, real estate and securities. The next Mercury Uranus meeting will be on October 19th, when retrograding Mercury’s fact-finding skills will be optimized. After Mercury emerges from its retrograde and dives back into Scorpio, it will cross paths with Uranus again on November 17th, under a late degree Scorpio Sun. These three meetings warrant attention to financial news and extra care with investments, and they portend the release of shocking information.
After we stomach this week’s Mercury-Uranus surprises, the Moon will move into nurturing Cancer on Thursday. Cancer’s top priority is emotional security. It’s an extremely sensitive sign that is constantly assessing its emotional surroundings in the pursuit of safety. This month the Moon’s trip through the cardinal water sign will offer comfort and combat. On the calmer side, it will sextile Venus and Uranus and it will trine Mercury and Neptune. On the choppy side, it’s set to square the Libra Sun and Mars and to oppose Jupiter, Pluto and Saturn. Those cardinal stresses are amplified on Friday by our next Mars showdown with Pluto. The symbol of Cancer is the crab. Those little, tide-sensing crustaceans are always equipped with a protective shell. When the waves get too rough, there is always shelter. Before the Moon leaves Cancer on Saturday, Venus makes a once-a-year, constructive trine to Uranus, perhaps bringing some reassuring news about finances.
But taking too many big risks is not advisable, no matter how appealing they might seem. The Moon will move into largess-loving Leo on Saturday night, and by Sunday it will be checked by both Uranus and Mercury via their squares to it. Those take place as the Sun squares Jupiter. Jupiter is one of our money planets and a benefic, but the Sun in rational Libra is meting out justice impartially and indifferently. In short, Leo-born impulses to go on a spending spree are best kept on pause. However, rummaging through the fridge, in search of some thoughtfully stored Cancer leftovers, is a solid strategy for of sailing past the ruckus.
