You know that things are going to get interesting during a week when Venus is flirting with Jupiter, Pluto and Saturn and the Sun is moving into Scorpio and heading into a meeting with retrograde Mercury. In the aftermath of Mars’ unfriendly square to jovial Jupiter, the week gets off to quite a bumpy start. As the reverberations from that dispute settle down, a Scorpio-ensconced Mercury will boldly sting unpredictable Uranus, on Monday night. This is the second of their three oppositions, and this time Mercury’s retrograde status promises to make events all the more exciting, and maybe memorable. On the same day and in stark contrast, we have one of the year’s most fortunate trines, between benefics Venus and Jupiter with both in earth signs. If the Mars’ strategy of kicking in Jupiter’s door didn’t work on Sunday, Venus is suggesting that knocking politely, and maybe offering some freshly baked cookies, is a far better way of getting Jupiter to open up and share its treasures.
The planet of pleasure, relationships and harmony has been in thoughtful, composed Virgo since October 2nd. From there, she’s been patiently restoring a sense of calm and quietly helping us tidy things up. Over the past three weeks you may have found yourself tying up the loose ends of projects that got started while Venus was in Cancer but which had languished while she was in Leo. Next week, she heads into her second home of Libra. Before that, her final week in an earth sign is going to be most productive. After Monday’s encounter with prosperous Jupiter, she will trine Pluto on Wednesday and Saturn on Saturday. The Pluto connection suggests getting to the heart of matters and the Saturn one, considering long-term agreements. You don’t have to sign on the dotted line right now, during the Mercury retrograde. But with the Venus Pluto trine happening the day before the Sun enters Scorpio, it’s time for honest discussions.
On Sunday the Sun and Mercury will meet in Scorpio. Scorpio and the Sun have an understanding. Though their tactics vary widely, they both govern power and healing. The Sun is after all the primary source of energy for our entire “solar” system, and for centuries it has been associated with knowledge, medicine and healing arts, deities and temples. Its approach is optimistic and overt. Scorpio, on the other hand, stealthily slips in and probes the psyche in its relentless quest for the truth. Once it’s over its intended target, it unleashes its transformative gifts by unlocking the most intimate and undeniable of secrets. With retrograde Mercury in tow, the Scorpio Sun has a very capable assistant for this week’s mission. The challenge for us is whether or not to face the truth that our stellar super-sleuths expertly uncover. One of Scorpio’s symbols is the phoenix. While the Sun transits the fixed water sign until November 21st, if we are ready to commit past mistakes, regrets and grievances to the pyre, we can rise from the ashes, purified and renewed.
