When a week begins with giant Jupiter making an exact conjunction with powerful Pluto and it ends with a full Capricorn moon and lunar eclipse, big things are on the table. Throw Saturn retrograding back into enterprising Capricorn, Mars firing up the engines in Aries and the Sun and Mercury making connections with wildcard Uranus from cardinal Cancer, and you don’t have to wait for the Fourth of July for some fireworks.
The emphasis is now firmly on the initiating cardinal signs. These are astrology’s best tools for motivation, invigoration and activation. This week’s action gets off to a seismic start late Monday night when Jupiter and Pluto have their second of three 2020 meetings. The last time that these two joined forces was on April 4th, when the USA was going into lockdown and the CARES Act was being passed. Their second meeting, in the sign of banking, business and government, takes place while the airwaves are already abuzz with talk of PPP 2.0 and the next round of stimulus checks for Americans. This time, however, these planets are retrograde, along with Mercury, Saturn and Neptune. Also, Saturn is about to leave the humanitarian realms of Aquarius for austere Capricorn. Congress isn’t scheduled to get back to work until mid July, and second wave spikes in COVID-19 are also already taking place. So even big guns like Jupiter and Pluto will have to keep their powder dry a bit longer. But when the next package is finalized, we can expect it to be supersized.
The news cycle is set for its own spike on Tuesday afternoon when the Sun and Mercury sextile Uranus, the planet of shock and awe, and the Sun and Mercury take a meeting of their own in between those Uranus hookups. On Wednesday Saturn returns home to pragmatic Capricorn. This places the planet of structure and discipline back on terra firma and into the same sign as Jupiter and Pluto. Its retrograde motion will bring the three closer together, from now through mid December. Underscoring the week’s decidedly Capricorn essence, the moon will move into the cardinal earth sign on Friday and prepare for its Sunday zenith at 13 Cap 38 and a lunar eclipse. We’re moving from Q2 to Q3 of 2020 and from the first half of the year to the second. In the macro, Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto will concentrate on the economy. In the micro, Mars will prompt and prod us into action. This is a good week to consider yearend goals and to begin harnessing the power of Capricorn to accomplish them.
