Forecast Aug 26-Sep 1, 2019: Walk On The Wild Side

Venus, Mars, the Sun and Mercury will traverse the terrain of mild-mannered Virgo during a week that will host a new Virgo Moon amid a five-body Virgo stellium on Friday. Organized, reserved and studious, Mercury-ruled Virgo typically supports a calm, careful and clear-headed approach to life. But with all four planets and that new Moon making pronounced connections to wild, unorthodox and unpredictable Uranus, the desire to play it safe will likely give way to unconventional impulses, moves and tactics. The Uranus trines being created all week long, and gravitating around that new Moon, can produce blockbusting breakthroughs and advances. Health, finances and real estate are among the many candidates for areas where gargantuan and game-changing shifts can suddenly and instantly occur. Best look: exchanging that perfect classroom attendance record for a stroll with the rule-breakers, who might just teach you a lot more about life than you can possibly learn in school.

Forecast May 27-June 2, 2019: The Fortuitous Pisces Moon

Pisces Moon
A sweet, innocent Pisces moon starts a lot of commotion

The week starts with a fortuitous Pisces moon, which, in its inimitable way, is showing us both the challenges and strengths unfolding in the current Gemini Sun cycle. On Monday alone, this Pisces moon will square Mercury and Jupiter, conjoin Neptune and sextile Venus, Saturn and Pluto. Later in the week Mercury, home in Gemini, will square Neptune and oppose Jupiter, and Venus, home in Taurus, will sextile Neptune before trining Saturn on Friday and powerful Pluto on Sunday. The intuitive Pisces moon that begins the week is acting like our internal early detection system, psychically scanning our fields for raw intel. Informed by the spiritual data, we can navigate the inbound turbulence and get well-positioned for the week’s extra bountiful aspects. A few quincunx aspects will throw some wonkiness our way. But for groovy Pisces, the weirder the better. Be sure to tune into the cosmic messages downloading on Monday and Tuesday. They are offering the vision that can guide us to soul-level riches far beyond the present week.

Surfing The Psychic Waves On March 20th

On March 20th at 1:00 PM PST I’ll be visiting Kristina Walsh at InFlowRadio to talk about the astrological cycle ahead, and it’s a big one.

March 20th is of course Spring Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere and the day when the Sun enters the cardinal fire sign of Aries. This year the momentous event is preceded by a powerful Mars trine to Pluto, and this equinox includes a Super Full Moon in Libra, the final in our series of three Supermoons at 0 degrees and the first of two Libra full moons during the Aries sun cycle. I’ll have all of the details for you when I visit with Kristina Walsh on Surfing The Psychic Waves at 1:00 PM PST on Wednesday, March 20th at 1:00 PM PST. Please use the link to listen anytime.

Saturn Sextile Neptune: Informed Form Part 1

While stern Saturn and nebulous Neptune may seem like one of astrology’s oddest couples, there’s an exquisite, transformational power in their pairing. In 2019 they will form three exact sextiles, from January through November, and their meetings will color the entire year. If you’ve ever worked with rosary beads or a mala, then you innately understand this combination. Saturn gives us the physical structure (beads) and Neptune the connection to spirit (prayer). Practicing a spiritual discipline focuses our attention, opens up the channel to God (Light) and centers us. In a hyper busy world of seemingly endless distraction, ever shortening attention spans and tempers, and excessive drug use, a spiritual practice offers peace, clarity and purposefulness.

Another consideration of this transit is the elements that are present, earth and water. What is the material without the spiritual? What is the spiritual with no real-life application? In the three meetings of 2019, we are offered a dialog between these influential forces. And both planets are in their home signs, adding deeper resonance to their work. Neptune and Pisces have a reputation for getting too far out there, so much so that we become lost and incapable of accomplishing anything. At the extreme of addiction, we may lose the ability to even fuction in the world. Saturnian sobriety is an antidote. Achievement is the cornerstone of Capricorn, and Saturn rewards a job well done. You can think of him as the “A” you received in that course you had an epic struggle with, yet through your persistence somehow mastered. On the material extreme, the empty pursuit of goals or possessions at best yields temporary satisfaction. Upon attainment, the next mountain to climb emerges, but with no application and to no purpose. Interestingly this simply becomes another form of addiction, to more, whatever that more is. Neptune is sneaky like that.

This set of sextiles is offering insight and pragmatic wisdom. Through dedicaton (Saturn) and introspection, we can examine our underlying beliefs (Neptune), i.e. the operating systems we’ve been running on. Neptune’s oceanic presence can gently and slowly erode old places in the subconscious and their correlating, outgrown patterns in our lives. It can also help us download the Divine and install the needed cosmic upgrades, a clearer sense of our purpose. Ringed Saturn instills an awareness of time and limitation, and therefore creates urgency in our lives. Its austerity can steer us away from pointless distraction and towards the goals that have abiding meaning in our lives. The first sextile is on January 31st. Got beads?

Sun Into Libra 2014: Aspire To Inspire

When the Sun moves into harmonizing Libra at 9:29 P.M. MST on September 22nd, not only will it kick off autumn 2014, but it will also usher in one of the year’s liveliest cycles.  On tap are a roaring ring of fire sign trines, a full Aries moon eclipse and a Mercury retrograde, starting in scintillating Scorpio.  And all of this is only the start of a season that will host an especially auspicious Scorpio cycle and the next and sixth Pluto Uranus square (in December). The preceding Virgo cycle gave us all time to relax, regroup and organize.  Now it’s time to set those meticulously laid plans into motion.  Moreover, the year’s unusually long seven-month cycle of personal planet retrogrades tested us and our aspirations.  Now, on the heels of Pluto moving forward, it’s time to harvest the rewards of work well done.

Kicking enthusiasm into high gear right off the bat, and occurring the day after the new Libra moon. will be a Jupiter Uranus trine on September 25th.  Motivating Mars will keep the momentum moving when it trines Jupiter on October 4th and Uranus October 8th.  The fires of inspiration ignited under these trines will burn brightly throughout the Libra cycle and well beyond.  In part this is because the outer planet Uranus lends its influence over a prolonged period of time.  In part it is because this dynamic planetary combination will reconnect in fire signs in 2015.  Mars represents action, Jupiter expansion and Uranus revolution, and together they are electrifying.  Aries initiates and impacts, Leo bolsters courage and confidence and Sagittarius infuses the world with vision and optimism.  During this Libra cycle, Uranus is in Aries, Jupiter is in Leo and Mars is in Sagittarius.  The placement of such activating planets in all three of astrology’s fire signs, together with their exact trines (120 degree meetings), is an especially strong signal that it’s time to put passion into action and that new doors are open.  While the Uranus transit through Aries will last until 2018 and Leo’s journey through Leo will last until August 2015, Mars will exit Sag in late October.  Its next forays through fire won’t take place until late February 2015, when it comes home to Aries, and August of 2015, when it enters Leo.  Further, the other significant point about this triple dose of fire is its unity of purpose and style.

Though the standard definition of what astrologers call mutual reception usually only involves two planets, a case can be made for a form of it here.  Mutual reception is when two planets are in each other’s signs of rulership.  In this case three planets are involved, so we need to extend the traditional definition.  Mars rules Aries, the sign Uranus will be in when Mars trines it, and Jupiter rules Sagittarius, the sign Mars will be in when it trines Jupiter.  What is important is the common purpose mutual reception suggests; its occurrence sees planets working toward the same end, with corresponding energy.  In short, this cycle is brimming with vitali

Autumn 2014 Full Moon Eclipse

Other reasons for such an active cycle include more Cardinal sign interaction and a full Aries moon eclipse which will activate the lunar nodes.  As most of you know, astrology’s Cardinal signs are about new beginnings.  Each starts one of the four seasons and their presence is a cosmic signal that new opportunities are at hand.  Whenever two or more planets meet in Cardinal signs, that message is amplified.  Conventional wisdom holds that when these meetings take place under conjunctions (when planets meet at the same spot), the push to get moving is gentle.  Conversely, and more commonly, when Cardinal connections happen in the form of squares and oppositions, we are usually dealing with more urgent calls for action.  If you are an Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn or have one of those signs as your rising or moon sign, then this year’s Libra cycle is significant.  For everyone else, see which planets and houses in your natal chart fall under those signs.  Chances are that the areas of your life represented by them will be activated.  Here are some dates to watch.  Conjunctions include the new Libra moon on September 24th, a Sun Mercury meeting on October 16th and a Mercury Venus hookup on the 17th.  Squares include one between the Sun and Pluto on October 4th and one between Pluto and Venus on the 8th.  That one will pack an extra punch because the 8th is the date of that full Aries moon (opposite the Sun) and total eclipse.  That eclipse involves the moon’s North Node in Libra and its South in Aries, and there is a Uranus opposition to the Sun on the 7th.  But first week of October is not all green lights and fireworks.  Mercury will slowdown before turning  retrograde on the 4th.

This is the final Mercury retrograde of 2014 and the third one in which the planet ruling communication, travel and tech moves from a water sign back into an air sign.  For more on that, please see my Sun Into Virgo 2014 article.  With Mars, Jupiter and Uranus getting us all fired up and the Cardinal thrusts pushing for progress, a cosmic directive to think before acting will come in handy.  This one starts in Scorpio, the sign of the 8th house, a placement that could uncover intimate secrets or some intriguing financial information.  Starting in the heat of the political season in the U.S., this retrograde may prove to be the year’s most interesting.  Whatever happens, delays, glitches and technical snafus are some of the usual hallmarks of mischievous Mercury.  So both being prepared and tempering those new projects with care will go a long way to making the Libra days ahead smooth and successful.  This retrograde ends October 25th and Mercury will move back into Libra on October 10th, where it will be until November 9th.  In the sign of fairness, equality and consideration of others the Messenger will inform our thoughts and deeds.  The science is pretty clear; when we help others, we feel better.  So as we move into the exciting days ahead, notice where you can make a positive impact by sharing your gifts, time and talents with others.  You will be richer, and happier, for the experience.

Sun Into Gemini 2014: Setting The Stage

For more astrology news, you can check out my interviews on “Kristy’s Connection To The Soul” and “Surfing The Psychic Waves” with Kristi Walsh.

We’re finally entering the last phase of 2014’s exceptionally long retrograde series. This cycle, it’s mischievous Mercury meandering backwards. But, instead of shaking your fists in consternation or throwing your hands up in the air in exasperation, relax. The coming Sun through Cancer and Leo cycles, when Mercury and Saturn turn direct and abundant Jupiter makes its grand entrance into dramatic, generous Leo, will see the stage curtain rise and the spotlight begin to shine upon you and your endeavors. The Gemini cycle we are now entering is ideal for putting those finishing touches on projects and making those last minute tweaks before showtime. The Sun in observant Gemini and mental Mercury’s retrograde are here to offer you a dress rehearsal. And to be sure we have our act together, another provocative Cardinal Cross is heading our way.

As most of you know, since December 21, 2013 we’ve had one personal planet after the other going retrograde, only to turn direct and pass the cosmic backwards baton to the next personal planet. Venus was retrograde in Capricorn from December 21st to January 31st. Then Mercury went retro from February 6th-28th from Pisces back into Aquarius. No sooner had he/she started moving forward did Mars start marching backwards in Libra, from March 1st through May 19th. Now Mercury is at it again as it prepares for its second retrograde of the year from June 7th through July 1st from Cancer back into Gemini. So, if you’ve felt like the projects you’ve been trying to get off of the ground have been, well, grounded, it has been in the ethers. But all of the effort you’ve been putting in will soon pay off because the best part of 2014 is yet to come. For now, the Sun is moving into articulate, social Gemini, at 8:59 P.M. MST on May 20th, and the days ahead promise to be as productive as they are fun.

GeminiMoon2014

As this Sun cycle gets underway, motivating Mars has just come out of it’s nearly-three-month-long slumber. In the instigating air sign Libra, the sign of justice, beauty and balance, the planet of action will nicely align with the Gemini Sun for the next 30 days and Mercury while it travels through the mutable air sign. The winged one will be in Gemini from May 7th through 29th and June 17th through July 13th. Mars will build more momentum under the new Gemini moon of the 28th, the Libra moon of June 6th-9th and the Aquarius moon of June 15th-17th. Another very favorable aspect occurring at the start of this cycle is the final Jupiter Saturn water trine that will be exact May 24th. We won’t have another Jupiter in Cancer water trine to Saturn (next time in Pisces) until November 2025. So soak up this cosmic combination of possibility and practicality. You can bring your dreams to life, and these two powerhouses, now placed in intuitive water signs, can show you how.

So what happened in your life during the month of April? If two eclipses and the full Grand Cardinal Cross left you with unfinished business, you’ll have another chance to take care of it. Though the intensity level will have simmered down a few notches, some more Cardinal conflict will take place following the June 12-13th full moon. This cycle’s hotspot, the full moon will see Venus in Taurus in direct opposition to Saturn in Scorpio, and two days later intent Mars will square evolutionary Pluto. Helping you choose your battles wisely will be nimble Mercury, reviewing the facts and information in Gemini. On the 19th, the Messenger will meet up with the Sun, offering us an extra dose of clarity. Until then, what do we do with the loose ends that over six consecutive months of retrogradation have inevitably left most of us with? Think big. Think about where you want your life to go in 2014 and beyond, how you want to look and feel by Winter Solstice and what you would like to have happen between then. By clearly seeing your way forward now, with clever Mercury at your side, harmonious air sign collaborations and a soothing water sign trine in the mix, you can make the choices and changes needed to get there.

Sun Into Taurus 2014: On Solid Ground

For an audio report on this cycle, please listen to an interview on “Kristy’s Connection To The Soul“.

Some of 2014’s biggest fireworks are officially underway, But as we enter the heart of the Grand Cardinal Cross, the Cosmos is also serving up some of the year’s most stable and abiding energy. Counteracting the chaos of the Cross are celestial reserves of peace, resolve and security, and sensuous, resourceful Taurus has arrived to guide us to them. The Sun enters the fixed earth sign of Taurus at 9:56 P.M. MST on April 19th under a Cardinal Capricorn moon. On the 20th expansive Jupiter squares erratic Uranus and opposes powerful Pluto. On the 21st the fifth of seven seismic Pluto Uranus square occurs. On the 22nd contentious Mars squares Jupiter and on the 23rd it opposes Uranus and squares Pluto. Are you already feeling the friction? By the weekend of the 26th the moon moves into instigating Aries to set off a few more days of Cardinal clashes, as it prepares for a solar eclipse on the 29th. How these energies will play out personally and globally is unique to each set of circumstances. For some it will be the time when long-standing grievances escalate into all out war. For others, aspects like Uranus in spontaneous Aries will bring unexpected news and one-of-a-kind opportunities. For most, it is a significant step forward. Paradoxically, applying these initiating forces requires a look back.

Many of the planetary players activated during the Cross began stirring things up back in late December of 2013. Four months into the new year, we’re being reminded to revisit the resolutions and intentions we set for 2014 and beyond. Now we can make necessary revisions to them and further them along. If this sounds like the language of those pesky Mercury retrogrades, it is. But the winged one isn’t the culprit here. The planets in review mode during the cycle ahead are heavenly heavyweights Mars, Saturn and Pluto, and they are some of astrology’s strongest and shadowiest figures. The collective resonance of this group will help, or force, us to slow down, something the Bull of Taurus appreciates. So on one hand we have the provocative Cross prodding us into action, and on the other, the malefics and Pluto imposing measure. Then again, as I cautioned back in December, this 7-month retrogradation period is one of 2014’s hallmarks.

The Grand Cardinal Cross 2014. Note Mars, Uranus, Pluto and Jupiter all at 13 degrees.

The Grand Cardinal Cross 2014. Note Mars, Uranus, Pluto and Jupiter all at 13 degrees.

The key to navigating these sometimes conflicting currents of action and reservation lies in the water signs, and in Pisces in particular. From the sign of intuition and integration, Neptune, Chiron and Venus (until May 2nd when it enters Aries) will inform us. The call of our inner voice will be present and unmistakable throughout the Taurus cycle. The Pisces trio will make harmonious connections with Saturn and Jupiter, also in water signs, giving gut feelings added gusto. In general the planets in water signs will form supportive aspects with those in earth signs. For example, Neptune and Chiron will sextile the Sun, Moon and Mercury while while they journey through rooted Taurus, and Jupiter in Cancer will sextile the new moon of the 29th, Mercury on the 30th and the Sun on May 6th. Further, the planets in earth signs, Pluto, the Sun, Moon and Mercury (until May 7th) will bring their practicality and determination to the table. Some keep dates for these earth sign meet ups include the 25th when Mercury and the Sun are conjunct, the 29th when Mercury trines Pluto under the new Taurus moon, and May 3rd when the Sun trines Pluto. These are 5-star grounding meditation days and occasions when holding on to what we truly value is important.

But standing our ground won’t be easy in the days ahead. In addition to the ground-breaking impulses coming from the Cardinal Cross, some fixed sign tensions are also on the horizon. Like their name implies, Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius hold the energies of their respective elements of earth, fire, water and air. Restrictive, retrograde Saturn in Scorpio will oppose Mercury, the new Moon and the Sun in Taurus. And the lunar transits through Aquarius and Leo will form squares to Taurus and Scorpio. These fixed sign frictions can complement the Cardinal Cross drive to get issues out in the open and to handle them in new, healthy ways. The insightful and grounding alignments of the planets in water and earth signs will play a huge role in determining how well we manage the provocative energies we are set to walk through. Astrology’s Bull, strong and centered, now stands in our midst. He teaches us to slow down and to move through the world firmly, with placidity and peace.
